Now that we’re all thinking about the holiday season, with the season really in full swing now there are SO many different events, parties, and things to do. While it’s easy to get caught up in the holiday madness, there’s also something about giving back and doing things for others that’s extra special this time of year. Sometimes it may seem as though being considerate, and giving back has to be something incredibly elaborate to make a difference. But we’ve discovered some simple ways to be considerate this holiday season. So that you’re able to be giving, but not have to do so in a way that’s super elaborately done.
Donate Food and Clothes
This time of year is typically so focused on getting and receiving NEW items, and we really forget that giving isn’t always about splurging on the latest and greatest. There are so many great charities that need and are accepting donations for those in need this time of year. Typically, food and household items are needed the most this time of year. Since we all tend to have so much that’s been piled up in our own homes, even going through our own homes and really eliminating what we aren’t using and donating it to a great charity is a great way to be considerate and giving of others this season. Not only are you going to get rid of things that you don’t have a use for, but you can also know that they’re going to go to those who really do need them and will make great use out of the items. It’s easy to do, but the power of this consideration can go a long way.
Do Some Volunteering
It’s not always about the things that can be a way to be considerate this time of year. If you’ve already given your allotted amount in money or ‘things’ for this year, try volunteering for a charity that you really resonate with. The thing about volunteering is it’s really important to make sure that you choose a charity program that really means something to you, and you stand behind 100%. It will help you to be able to fully support the charity you’re volunteering for and keep with the giving spirit of the holidays. Do some research to find some local charity organizations in your area that are in need of volunteers – you’ll probably be surprised at how many of them still need helping hands for events and daily activities to keep functioning.
Be Present At the Events You Attend
With so many different events happening this time of year it can be easy to get caught up in going from event to event, and not really being present in the moment. One of the simple ways we encourage you to be considerate this holiday season is to make a conscious effort to be fully present with the ones you love, when you’re with friends, and at events. Step back, don’t get too caught up in the ‘busy’ and enjoy the season while we have it.
