There’s nothing quite like the feeling of getting a fresh new hair style – except getting the perfect blowout, of course. Blowouts can add tons of volume, style and shine to your hair if done properly. Blowouts can give the hair lift as well. When it comes to requesting the perfect blow out, it all depends on the style you are going for. Lionesse has some tips for you to help you get the perfect blow out and be happy and satisfied with the outcome – and you can even make your blowout style last for a few days if it’s done right. Read on to see how to request the perfect blowout.
Tell your stylist exactly what it is you are looking for. Always make the style you want known. If you need to show pictures as a reference, by all means – bring them along! You want to get the style you want, not what they want to give you. Always speak up!
For Volume and Lift
Any stylist knows how to create volume with a blowdryer and give you the perfect ‘oomph’ you need to appear as though you have thicker, lusher hair. But you could explain this a bit to the stylist if you know the tools of the trade that need to be used, to make sure you get exactly what you want. Tell your stylist you want her to use a large round brush and concentrate on the root area. Chances are, she already knows this – but to make yourself heard and really get what you’re paying and hoping for, there’s what you’ll need to say. Also – you could request some root volumizer be used as well, whether its spray, mousse, or powder.
The same principle applies to getting the perfect lift you want. If you want hair with a lot of lift which will also appear with more volume, your stylist will want to use a round brush with the blowdryer, pull the hair straight up into the air and blow dry that way. They can use some texturizer on the roots to give you the look you crave.
If all you want is a style with your blowout, this could vary in range from blow drying the hair back and away from the face, to adding in subtle waves with a round brush, to a flat style with a paddle brush and more. Depending upon the look you’re going for, it might be a great idea to bring in a picture or show a picture you’ve saved onto your phone to your stylist so they can see what you want. A good stylist can mimic a picture’s look.
For shine, a shine spray is usually used as is a paddle brush and medium to high heat. Repeated motions and repetitions over the same flattened area against the brush is usually the best course of action when trying to achieve a shiny style. Your stylist can work in small sections at a time to achieve the shiny, perfect look. You can request her to blast the hair with cool air after the heat, locking in the heat and adding more shine. Finish with a good shine spray or serum for plenty of shine and style.
