Ohh, the winter time, while it’s fun to get into the holiday spirit, it’s also joined with some weather conditions that aren’t always favored by many of us…or our skin. Our skin definitely takes a toll from the winter weather conditions, we’re faced with many different climate factors that can negatively impact our skin. Many people are faced with dealing with body acne during the winter months. We all know acne isn’t fun in any way, shape or form so most of us can appreciate learning how to avoid winter body acne. Which is exactly why we’re sharing how to do just that!
Simplify Your Skin Care Routine
If you struggle with acne at all, you’ve probably been drawn to using products that are a little more harsh in their ingredients and application when applying them. Look, we get it – you want to really get rid of that acne as quick as you can, and we all panic a bit when we have acne breakouts. However, experts suggest actually doing the opposite. In other words, look for skin care products that you’re using on your body that are simpler in their makeup – aka, don’t have a TON of different ingredients in them and keeping your routine pretty simple. Sometimes we have a tendency of overcomplicating things, especially when it comes to our skincare routine because there are so many different products on the market. But that can irritate and even overwhelm our skin, so instead of trying to use a ton of different products streamline and get back to the basics. This will give your skin a better cleansing experience and allow it to heal and repair itself more naturally.
Streamline What You Are Drinking
Experts continue to discover the association between our skin and what we put in our bodies (sometimes even more than what we put ON our bodies). Many suggest that if you’re notorious for struggling from body acne in the winter, it’s wise to take a look at what you’re drinking. We tend to be drawn towards warm beverages that have a lot of sugar and caffeine in them, which can aggravate and cause acne to pop up around our body. Up your water intake, and even consider switching from sugar loaded warm drinks to warm water that’s infused with fruit or veggies. Water is incredibly soothing and hydrating to the body and skin, and fruit/veggies have nutrient benefits that can really do wonders for your skin’s appearance.
Don’t Skip The Moisturizer
Many people who struggle with acne are afraid to apply moisturizing products in fear that it will create more oil production in their skin, but since the weather is so dry in the winter months ,it’s really important to make sure that you are applying a great quality moisturizer to your entire body. In addition, skipping a moisturizer can actually cause your skin to produce even more oil than normal (resulting in more breakouts) because it’s craving that moisture and hydration it needs.
