super woman
There’s something about a powerful female character that we just can’t get enough of.  Whenever we see a movie with a female character that kicks butt we’re all about it!  Maybe it’s because traditionally, there haven’t always been a lot of powerful women displayed in movies and television.  Regardless of the real reason behind why many of us really enjoy a femme fatale, we thought it would be fun to go through some of the favorite femme fatales that we’ve had the opportunity to see throughout the years.

Ginger Knowles (Halle Berry in Swordfish)
If we’re honest, Halle Berry can make any role look stunning for obvious reasons.  Her role in Swordfish is no different, as she plays Ginger, who uses her looks to get closer to what she wants and uses her skills to actually follow through.  Talk about crafty, right?

Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway in The Dark Night Rises)
Anytime we hear femme fatale we think of the women who have played the roles of Cat Woman.  One of the latest Batman films, shows Selina Kyle as a true badass when it comes to kicking butt and taking Gotham City like a pro.  She was kicking butt and taking names in this movie, and truly showed us what a femme fatale is all about – looking amazing AND being a forced to be reckoned with.

Mrs. Robinson (Anne Bancroft in The Graduate)
This is probably one of the most iconic movies that represented a real femme fatale, so much so that the movie is still referenced and talked about often.  Mrs. Robinson definitely made waves in the movie and stepped outside the norm by representing a ‘cougar’ in all her glory.  She definitely made a woman living in the suburbs seem much more provocative than it had been represented up to this point.

lara croft
Lara Croft
Can we have a list of femme fatales without the mention of Lara Croft?  She’s one of the ultimate kick butt characters that we’ve witnessed (fictionally of course).  Not only is she a kick butt character that’s been shown in movies and video games, but she manages to look pretty incredible while doing it.  In our opinion, that’s a definition of a true femme fatale.

Laure Ash (Rebecca Romijn in Femme Fatale)
Ok, well the movie’s name is Femme Fatale so you know the character is going to be a real femme fatale!  Laurie lives up to the movie’s title in this one, so she naturally had to make the list.

Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns)
Ok, we know we already listed one Catwoman but we couldn’t help but list Michelle Pfeiffer when she played the role as well.  Catwoman is, after all, one of the most iconic femme fatales to date.  In this particular Batman film she makes her way through Gotham City while juggling and keeping Bruce Wayne and Batman on edge the entire time.

Realistically, we’re just tipping the iceberg with some of the most iconic femme fatales but it’s a starting point!  Do you have a favorite femme fatale?
