The Met Gala is one of the most anticipated red carpet events every single year. Since the event is so art inspired and focused, with a different theme every event, the attendees really pull out all the stops. It’s much different than other red carpet events because of the theme aspect of the event. Since the style and beauty looks are taken up a notch, it’s a great event to gain a little inspiration from. We took some time to really evaluate some of the looks at the Met gala and decided to share some Met gala inspired hair goals to share with you.
The Lob Look
Short hair styles have been gaining a lot of popularity recently, and that was heavily shown at the Met gala. Celebs like Selena Gomez and Bella Hadid stepped out on the carpet with stunning lob hair styles. If you’re not super familiar, lob hair styles are known as a long bob look. Typically a lob sits just above the shoulders in length. To give a little bit of an updated twist for the Met Gala both ladies (among others) added a bit of lighter highlighting color to the ends of their hair and work the look in a pin straight style with a dramatic center part. The lob look was really shown how a traditionally simple hair style can bring major style with the addition of a few other subtle elements.
Super Straight Locks
Another common hair look we noticed at the Met gala this year was the incorporation of so many pin straight locks. Everyone from Kim Kardashian to Nicki Minaj (the list really goes on) stepped out in pin straight hair looks. Most worn with a straight center part or deeper side part. Again the look was about simplicity but the way they were styled with such straight hair created an updated feel to the look that was simple but chic. Fortunately, this type of hair style can be recreated in the comfort of your home without the help of a professional.
Not ALL of the hair looks at the Met gala were hair worn down, there were also quite a few celebs that were giving us major hair goals with their top knot looks. Rihanna, Gigi Hadid and Daisy Ridley were just a few that rocked a top knot with an updated take. While top knot hair styles aren’t new, these ladies (among others) managed to find a way to take the traditional top knot hair style and make it feel new again. Rihanna wore the top knot with bold, blunt bangs worn down in the top knot. Gigi Hadid added a more relaxed, undone take of the top knot leaving a piece down to frame her face. In other words, it was all about adding little touches to the traditional top knot that made it feel less perfect and a bit more edgy.
